Connections
Get connected and start selling faster! Link your closets to Nifty with our secure connection methods, designed to keep your accounts safe while maximizing your selling potential.
Connection methods
We offer four secure ways to connect:
Tip: After connecting, use the “View connected closet” button to double-check that you’re connected to the right one.
1. Username/password
For platforms that don’t use two-factor authentication, like Poshmark, providing your username and password is the most convenient option. When your connection eventually expires (a security feature of all marketplaces), we can automatically reconnect on your behalf without any action required from you.
2. Passwordless extension
For platforms that use two-factor authentication, like Mercari, or if you prefer not to share your password, our Chrome extension offers the best solution. Here’s how it works:
- Using a computer and Google Chrome, install our Chrome extension by clicking “Add to Chrome”
- From the same computer, sign in to your marketplace account in Google Chrome
- Refresh your Nifty Account page, and you’ll see a “Connect” button instead of a password field

Good to know:
- The extension only works with Google Chrome on a computer (other browsers are not supported)
- If you find yourself entering any text, the extension isn’t properly installed — try removing and re-adding it
- If your connection is briefly established then disconnects, try signing out of the marketplace and signing back in to create a fresh connection, then use the Chrome extension again
- You don’t need to keep your device open after connecting — Nifty runs entirely in the cloud, and the extension is only needed for the initial connection process, not for ongoing operations
3. OAuth
For platforms that use OAuth for authentication, like eBay and Etsy, you’ll be redirected to the marketplace’s website to log in and grant permission to Nifty.
4. Magic links
For marketplaces that use magic links, like Depop, you can paste the link directly into Nifty. Make sure to copy the link without opening it — if you accidentally click on it or “preview” it, the link will no longer be usable and you’ll need to request a new one.
Here’s how to copy the link:
- Computer users: Right-click the “Log in” button in your email and select “Copy Link”. If you accidentally click on it, you’ll need to start over.
- Mobile users: Long press the button and select “Copy Link”. If your device shows you a “preview”, this unintentionally opens the link, so you’ll need to hide the preview and start over.

Connection duration
All marketplace connections expire eventually as a security measure. The duration varies by platform:
| Marketplace | Typical duration | Automatic reconnection |
|---|---|---|
| eBay | 18 months | No, not supported |
| Poshmark | 4 months | Yes, if you’ve provided your password |
| Mercari | 1 month | No, always requires a verification code |
| Depop | 1 month | No, always requires a magic link |
When a connection expires, you’ll receive an email notification.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect your closet at any time by clicking the “Disconnect” button on the Account page. This immediately stops all Dashboard activities for that marketplace.
If you also want to clear your listing data from your Inventory Manager, you’ll need to use the Danger Zone in Inventory Settings.
Troubleshooting
Having trouble connecting your closets? Here’s how to resolve common issues:
Tip: When connecting, temporarily disable your password manager or autofill features. These tools can sometimes interfere with the authentication process.
Computer users
If you have access to a computer, we highly recommend using our Chrome extension. It’s quick, easy, and guaranteed to work.
Mobile users
If you’re on a mobile device, try these steps before re-entering your credentials or magic link:
Poshmark
- Use your closet name instead of your email address. Poshmark accepts either as your “username”.
Mercari
- Go to “Settings > Account Security” and ensure SMS is the only selected verification option
- Navigate to “Settings > Phone Verification” and confirm this process is complete
- Sign out of Mercari and sign back in, making sure any verification code is sent via text message, not email
Depop
- Navigate to “Settings > Two-Factor Authentication” and turn this setting off
- Sign out of Depop and sign back in, ensuring no verification code is requested
Please note: Two-factor authentication settings for Depop can only be managed through the Depop app. The decision to turn it off is entirely yours to make based on your personal security preferences.
