Gemini

Gemini uses Nifty only in Gemini Spark, Google's agent mode. Regular Gemini chats can't use custom apps, so switch to Spark before asking about your inventory.

Requirements

Google limits custom apps and Spark to accounts that meet all of these:

  • A Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription.

  • A personal Google account. Work and school accounts aren't supported.

  • Age 18 or over, in the US, with Gemini in English.

  • Keep Activity turned on in Gemini.

You also need the Nifty requirements. See Google's help for custom apps and Gemini Spark for the latest details.

Add Nifty

1

Open Connected Apps

Go to gemini.google.com on your computer. Select Settings at the bottom left, then Personal Intelligence, then Connected Apps.

2

Add a custom app

Scroll down to Custom apps and select Add a custom app. Enter this server URL, then select Next:

https://api.nifty.ai/api/mcp

Sign in to your Nifty account and approve access when prompted.

3

Use Nifty in Spark

Select Switch to Spark in the sidebar (⇧⌘S on a Mac), then ask about your inventory, orders, or sales. Gemini asks you to confirm before any action that changes your account or listings.

Once connected, Nifty also works in Spark in the Gemini mobile app.

Troubleshooting

Gemini doesn't use Nifty? Make sure you're in Spark, not a regular chat.

"We had trouble connecting", or a missing tool? Gemini keeps the tool list from when you added the app, and connections added before October 3, 2026 don't work. Remove the app and add it again:

  1. Open Connected Apps as described above.

  2. Under Custom apps, select More details next to Nifty, then Remove app.

  3. Add Nifty again, then start a new Spark conversation.

See Connect via MCP for what the assistant can do and the requirements.
